A Secure Web is Here
A Secure Web is Here !
Google is out to make the web a more secure place. If your site is not running on HTTPS, then now is the time.
Google has just announced that the upcoming version of Chrome browser will alert users if the site is not secure. This shouldn’t come as a surprise. In the previous release, Google alerted users every time they entered information into a form on an insecure site.
The new alert shown below is sure to make many visitors feel insecure and think twice before accessing the site. It’ll very likely result in less traffic and convert many sites from HTTP to HTTPS.
Security is simple
To convert site from HTTP to HTTPS Google does not ask much. They want to make web safer for everyone. Over 68% of Chrome traffic on both Android and Windows is now protected. 81 of the top 100 sites on the web use HTTPS by default.
It’s really very simple to make this move, thanks to projects like Let’s Encrypt and others, it’s now easier than ever to enable HTTPS for almost any site.
Punishment for insecure sites
While this next Chrome update will alert insecure sites, they will surely do even more to prevent people from visiting insecure sites, making security a top propriety in the future. Google has already confirmed that they favour HTTPS sites. This will loose your site’s Google rankings as well.
Getting secure is simple and gives your customers peace of mind that their website can be trusted and information is safe. So don’t wait any longer. Stop making negative impacts to your site and go secure it now.
